Troubleshooting

If you have encountered problems when installing or using the Host-My-Post plug-in, you should find the solution to your problem on this page. If the question and answer is not here, feel free to use the Contact Us form and our support team will do their best to give you an answer within 24 hours.

First, make sure you're using the latest version of WordPress (the plug-in is guaranteed to work with versions 3.3.1 and higher. You’re likely to experience problems with older versions of WordPress.

Plug-in installation

I can't activate the plug-in because it doesn't appear in the list of plug-ins in the Admin Area

Check that you've unzipped the installation archive correctly. The file HMPP_3UWX7.php and directory HMPP_3UWX7 should be located in the wp-content/plug-ins folder of your blog.

Plug-in adjustment

When I sent information from the Host-My-Post Plug-in Options to HMP, I received the following error message: "Information was not sent to Host My Post. Can't connect or bad response. Try again later."

  1. Check that you've unzipped the installation archive correctly. This error often occurs because the file HMPP_3UWX7.php and/or the folder HMPP_3UWX7 have been misplaced. To function correctly, both the file and the folder should be located in the wp-content/plug-ins folder.

  2. Please check your host PHP settings to ensure the allow_url_fopen directive is enabled in the PHP.INI configuration file and your settings allow PHP scripts to connect to Host-My-Post.com.

  3. It's possible that the servers hosting your site don’t allow your PHP-script to contact any third party sites. Check whether this limitation applies to your host servers.

I cannot use the automated posting system either through the HMP interface or in the Admin Area. When I attempted to send information from the Host-My-Post Plug-in Options to HMP, I received a message confirming Options Saved, but there’s no follow-up message, "Information was sent to Host-My-Post".

This problem is quite common with older versions of WordPress. Try updating to the latest version of WordPress.

When I sent information from the Host-My-Post Plug-in Options to HMP, I received the following message, "Information was not sent to Host My Post. Invalid combination of name, site, publication code or account is banned", but my Account status is valid.

  1. Every field, including the site’s name, is case sensitive. Check you have entered all the information correctly.

  2. The problem could result from your blog's use/non-use of the “www.” prefix. It's quite possible that you've added your site to Host-My-Post as www.yoursite.com, while your WordPress blog (the blog itself, not the plug-in) is set to use yousite.com (without "www."). If this does not work, describe the problem to our technical support team using the Contact Us form. It's likely that the problem will be solved by removing the "www." prefix from the name of the site in the plug-in on your side and simultaneous removal of the prefix from the Host-My-Post database.

I've accidentally deleted the email I received after registration by accident. Where can I get a replacement Publication Key?

You can change your publication key in My Account > Edit Settings > Change publication key.

I have installed the WordPress plug-in but when I click Update, the following text appears, "Warning: file_get_contents(/home/......../wp-content/plug-ins/HMPP_3UWX7/gate_register.xml) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/.......l/wp-content/plug-ins/hmpp/HMPP_3UWX7.php on line 280

You've unzipped the installation archive incorrectly. Deactivate the plug-in in the Plug-in Options in the Admin Area. Then move all the contents of wp-content/plug-ins/hmpp/ one level up to wp-content/plug-ins/. Then reactivate the plug-in. It should now work.
