Step by Step WordPress integration guide.

We assume that you already own a site that has some search engine optimization (SEO) value like PageRank, incoming links, visitors traffic etc.

Step 1: Create an account at Host-My-Post

Choose My Account / Sign Up from site menu (or alternatively click Sign Up in the top right corner of the site), enter your email address and desired login and password and wait for confirmational email. Click on the link included in the email to finish the sign up process. Now you have an active account at Host-My-Post and can sign in with your login and password.

Note: confirmational email will also contain your auto-generated publication key. Publication key will be discussed later on, now we just tell you that you can set new publication key (as well as the password) via My Account / Settings menu.

Step 2: Add your site to our database

Click Publishing / Add site menu item. Make sure you have read our rules regulating what kind of sites you can add. Enter your site domain name and check the box if you'd like to receive an email when your site gets approved. Follow the instructions to check that you really are the owner of this site. If you've lost your verification meta-code click Publishing / My sites and then "Verify" next to your site.

Important! By default your site is not assigned to any categories. It is right time to do it while site is being verified. Without specifying categories (and other settings for your site) you will not able to publish articles because article owners (advertisers) explicitly specyfy what kind of sites they want their articles to be published on.
Also important! Don't forget to remove the meta tag when your site is approved. Flaunting your participation in article exchange programs can make your advertisers unhappy.

Step 3: Install WordPress on your site

While your site is being verified and assigned a site class you can download and install WordPress (if you don't have it already). Wordpress can be dowloaded from here. It includes pretty detailed instructions for installation. It could be a good idea to install it to yoursite.com/blog/ directory, or if, for example, you have chosen "Health" and "Shopping" for your site categories: yoursite.com/health-and-shopping-blog/

Note (for those publishers who already have Wordpress on their sites): our plugin requires Wordpress version 2.3.3 or higher, please consider upgrading if needed.

Step 4: Install Host-My-Post WordPress plugin

Now you need to add our plugin to your WP installation. Unzip this file into the wp-content/plugins directory of your blog. Now go to your blog admin area (usually yoursite.com/blog/wp-admin/), open 'Plugins' tab and activate the Host-My-Post plugin. Next go to 'Options' / 'Host My Post' sub-tab. Fields are quite self explanatory, except "Publication key". Publication key can be found in the verification email you have recieved when signed up, or you can set it yourself via 'Account' menu at Host-My-Post.

Publication key works similar to password with the difference that only action that can be done with the publication key is to notify Host-My-Post that you have published an article on a certain site (obviously, plugin will need this feature). The reason to make it different from your password is the basic security concern - if someone hacks your site he will not get access to your Host-My-Post account.
When you are done click 'Update Options'. plugin will store the data and notify Host-My-Post that this site has installed the plugin and thus should be provided with extra interface options.

Step 5: Start publishing

Now you are all set and can start publishing Host-My-Post articles on your blog. You can do this in 2 easy ways:
